Christain Ponzi Schemes

I saw this Neatorama blog, on an Evangelical minister who advertises to send his ministry money and God will send you a windfall of money to get out of debt. It is amazing how these snake oil salesmans get away with this. It seems if you attach God to your scheme it is perfectly legal and acceptable. This shyster paid himself more than $1.5 million in 2007! So it seems to be pretty profitable, see the Charlotte Observer Article, for more disgusting details. If hell exists, please let this guy go there!

I just love Clowns...

the next 400 years?

NPR posted this today Scenes, Sounds, Sonnets: The Next 400 Years. They invited readers to post comments on what they thought would be remembered in 400 years. It had to be about love. Here are so far some of my favorites.

Daniella Ramos (daniella74) wrote:
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,
I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky,
but why, Why, why can't it be, can't it be mine
Pearl Jam Lyrics - Black

Michaela Benson (Mic_Mouse) wrote:
Sarah McLachlan "I Will Remember You," is one that will bring me back to all those who have passed in my life. One was when a fellow classmate of mine passed away on Sadies night, our freshman year of High School. Someone so young and so special, taken away too soon. It's a song that relates to many things in our lives. This song is one to remember.
I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

Michaela Benson (Mic_Mouse) wrote:
Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah," is also a great and unforgettable song. It hits me everytime I hear it and is so powerful.
Maybe there is a god above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

MaryLouise Ruehr (MLR) wrote:
from "Fields of Gold" by Sting:
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold.

Jim Howard (Jasph) wrote:
"And in the end, the love you take Is equal to the love you make." -The Beatles

randy gregory II (DalekRandy) wrote:
I Like big butts and I cannot lie, you other brothers can't deny. That will last 400 years.

Ellen Carey (buddhabrarian) wrote:
the second quote: from The History of Love by Nicole Krauss:"Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering."

geraldine lewis (geraldine45) wrote:
The song Me and Bobby McGee - all the lyrics but especially "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose" and "I'd trade all of my tomorrows for just one of yesterday, holding Bobby's body close to mine."

bernadette kapocias (bernadette000) wrote:

WTF, was I thinking?

My friend Gail had this great idea for posts, WTF was I thinking. I wanted to begin with starting this whole 30 days of Gratitude...WTF was I thinking??!! I couldn't last past day 8, it was hard coming up with stuff, maybe I am not grateful enough? Do I not appreciate everything and everyone around me? I think I do, but 30 days of it? All I can say is that I quit the 30 days of Gratitude, good luck to those who are continuing...

30 Days of Gratitude, day 7

A sister is a forever friend. ~Author Unknown

I can't believe it has been a week! I am now wishing it would have been 14 days of Gratitude instead of 30!! Today I am grateful for my sister, who lets me rant to her over the phone, always tells me the truth and knows where all the bodies are buried! She is my best friend for life and I am so grateful that my parents had her. Who else can relate to my mother, father, brothers and the rest of my extended family better than my sister! Here is her blog, check out her adorable girls (my beautiful nieces) and her amazing photography. Thank you Melissa!!!

A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double. ~Toni Morrison

30 Days of Gratitude, day 5 & 6

I didn't get to post over the weekend, so here is day 5 and 6. I am grateful for London and Paris. I just got back a week ago from visiting these great cities, and I was impressed with both of them. London for its great public transportation and Paris for the most amazing architecture and art museums in the world! The above picture is on the Westminster Bridge with the London Eye in the background. The picture below is on the Pont du Carrousel crossing from the Louvre to the left bank. If you haven't been to either city I highly recommend you go and if you have any questions let me know.

Weird Feeling

I woke up today feeling different, weird if you will, some how the sun seemed brighter, the air more crisp and I had a feeling of wellness and peace. Then I realized what it was, George W Bush is no longer our President! Happy Days are here again...

First Wave Weekend

This past weekend a local radio station, The Edge 103.9, had First Wave Weekend, playing old alternative music. I wished they played this all the time! Some of the artist were...Pixies, Smiths, Depeche Mode, INXS, The Cure, Talking Heads, Berlin, REM, U2, The Clash, Sex Pistols, David Bowie...not the same old songs, but deep cuts that I haven't heard since high school. I'm sad it's over, I must be getting old, because I want my own oldies station!

This is sad and scary...

If these pictures are true than Madonna is going to end up like Michael Jackson. Some say it is bad plastic surgery, while others say it is because she is so skinny.
I read in People, that it is cheek bone filler and lots of botox. What is up with her hands??? Some pictures...

Going to the Superbowl!!!

I am still somewhat in a dream like state that the AZ Cardinals are going to the Super Bowl! I wanted to share this great picture of my friend Annette at the game yesterday. I went down to the stadium and tailgated with sister and brother-in-law, who have season tickets, then went back to my sister's to watch the game on TV. It was packed at the stadium and everyone was having fun. Looking at the sport pages today, we are still the underdogs, but I for one don't mind. All the experts predicted we would lose in every playoff game so far, but it seems to inspire the team to win. GO CARDINALS!!!

"And if at first you don’t succeed, then dust yourself off and try again..."

I have decided to get back up on the horse...and posted a profile to a new dating site. I am not going to rush into anything, I am pretty sure that is what ruined my last relationship. I really do enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories...in my dating life so far... I have meet a man who's father was killed in a major plane crash and then his grandmother sued him for part of the settlement. A guy who lived in Oklahoma City at the time of the federal building bombing, his description of the aftermath was riveting. A man who modeled nude for art classes, but he was a huge liar, so he was probably lying about that. A guy who taught me a lot about German food, and who's grandparents lived in Germany during World War II and whose mother was born there. It was interesting to hear her particular view of that war. So I am off to meet some more!

It seems school paid off...

New Year's Eve

The last one is my favorite picture from New Year's Eve, that is Michael, Amber and me. I went to a co-worker's party, and had a great time. My previous relationship collapsed on Tuesday, so I dragged Amber to the party with me. I have some great friends...
